We found a baby swing! A few days ago we were walking through town and found a tiny park with, yes, a baby swing. It's small and a little dingy, but it's the only park in town with this most essential for us amenity. Of course, the weather has been too nasty cold and humid to go until today. It got up to a whopping 47F today, so I bundled up LittleBit and we headed to the little park. He was thrilled to get out of the hotel room. Also, the park is conveniently situated behind the building that houses the local library, so we made a stop there as well and read a few books. It makes for a better day when we can get out.
In other less expected news, Esquire was made the Branch President on Sunday. For my non-LDS friends, that's like being asked to be the pastor of a small congregation, and it's not exactly something you turn down (we have a lay ministry). We prayed for Esq to find good work, and this job in Bethel landed in our laps. I hate to sound trite saying this, but this accursed geography was apparently part of God's plan for us for the present. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it's really an honor and we feel really humbled by it, but I also now feel like we're obligated to stay here for a while so he (Esq) can fulfill this duty while it's his. Luckily these callings aren't for life, usually just a few years. The people here in Bethel are really kind and it's a great opportunity for Esq to learn and to grow spiritually. I just wish it didn't mean staying in Bethel, potentially for longer then originally planned.
That's what I've got for today. Maybe something interesting will happen in my life soon, something more than finishing a book. Otherwise you, dear readers, are just going to keep hearing about my opinions on literature and LittleBit's cuteness.
